Policies and Procedures

English Language Arts

School Year 2017-2018

Ms. Maloney

Classroom Rules and Expectations:

  • Be prepared! I expect all students to come to class having completed the homework assignment and ready to discuss reading assignments.  Make sure that you  have all of your materials and that you are ready to participate in class discussions.

  • Be respectful! I expect all students to treat one another and myself with respect.  This means students should not disrupt the instructor or another student when he/she is speaking.  Students who fail to act in a respectful manner will receive an infraction.  It is essential that everyone works together and respects one another so that we can foster a positive learning environment.

  • Be honest! I expect all students to complete their own assignments.  Do not take credit for work that you did not complete.  Cheating will not be tolerated.

  • All homework assignments are due at the beginning of class.  You should expect an assignment every night. Late homework will receive a lower grade.  I expect all assignments to be legible and completed according to class standards.

Classroom Materials:

  • You are expected to come to class prepared to engage in discussion every day.  Coming to class prepared means that you arrive on time and have all the following materials: writing utensils, vocabulary cards, and the necessary books.   You are expected to positively contribute to the academic discussions during class, as well as be a respectful listener while classmates speak.
