Birthday Policies/ Allergies
Birthday Policy:

If you would like your child to celebrate his/her birthday at school, please send in cupcakes
with your child in the morning. Our class has 23 students.

Please send an email or note a few days prior to sending in a birthday snack for the class.

Due to school policy, we are not able to share class snacks with students who have food allergies.  If your child has any food allergies, I will do my best to notify you in advance of any celebrations so that you may send in a special treat with your child.  For convenience, you are more than welcome to send in several treats that I will store in the event of any surprise celebrations.

Birthday celebrations will take place during our snack break in the morning (9:35-9:45). Goody bags, drinks, and paper goods should not be sent into school and will be returned if they do come in.

If you would like to have your child hand out birthday invitations at school, please make sure that there are enough invitations for every student in our class or all the girls or all the boys.

Allergy Policy:

Parents of a child with an identified food allergy should supply the homeroom teacher with a supply of appropriate snacks to select from during classroom parties and special events, so that he/she will not feel left out, and also in case the child forgets his/her lunch.

If there are students in grades K-8 with food allergies, an allergen-free table will be identified in the lunchroom. This table and accompanying chairs will be cleaned each lunch cycle by older student helpers. Under NO circumstances should food be shared.

In the case of special events at which food is served (e.g. Thanksgiving Feast, Pancake Breakfast, etc.), the parents of the child with food allergies must provide appropriate food. Once again, an allergen free-table will be established. Parents are encouraged to accompany their child to these events. Volunteers are NOT responsible for these situations.

‚Äč‚ÄčThere will be NO exceptions made to these policies.
